Academic Perspective on Directing IT, Sharepoint, and iPads
Good morning,
I've been tasked with surveying academic perspectives on topics that will be presented at AALL's Boston meeting as part of joint programming between AALL and ILTA (the International Legal Technology Association). Currently, the focus of the sessions is on law firms, but, to the extent possible, we would like to incorporate the academic perspective. If you have something you'd like to share on any of the following topics, please contact me off list. Contacting me in no way obligates you to speaking at the annual meeting, but it *might* present that opportunity if you are so inclined and the programs evolve that way.
1. Are you a new academic law library director who also is in charge of law IT and you are in need of an "IT 101" session to make you more conversant with those you supervise in this area? Are you an experienced academic law library director other administrator who might be able to share some of the major things you had to learn when you began managing IT?
2. Sharepoint in Academic Law Libraries - How it is being used, particularly in the provision of library services.
3. Apps for library services - is your library currently developing one? What are the logistics/hurdles to consider when developing them? Cost/benefits considered in pursuing (or not) developing an app?
4. iPad management in law schools, from all perspectives (procurement, purchasing content, technical support, etc.)
Any stories/insights you can share will go a long way in helping develop these programs and will be much appreciated!
Regards,
jrs
