Digital Signage
We're looking for digital signage software for some displays we're going
to be putting up. We have one up already with a very clunky home-grown
option, but we're going to be adding several more, most with unique
programming (so they won't all be the same).
I would like something that we can purchase outright, not hosted
elsewhere, without ongoing costs (except for maybe an occasional upgrade
opportunity). It needs to be a timeline type of software that can
display html, RSS, flash/flash video and jpeg/gif, at the very least.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Laurie

Digital Signage
We use this product to run digital signage on two 42" HD monitors:
http://www.digitalrecall.com.au/Digital/default.asp
The basic software is free, but we bought a few of the options: 1)
"remove advert" to remove the Digital Recall ads that display in the
free version and 2) "tickertape bar" to run scrolling text messages
across the bottom of the monitors. We set it up and our Student
Organizations office manages the content. One of the nicer features is
that you can give each ad its own expiration time so as to NOT end up
with a bunch of outdated ads running after an event is over.

RE: Digital Signage
Laurie,
We use a product called UCView (www.ucview.com) . It's pretty
inexpensive. We are currently using the hosted solution but you can buy
the solution outright. You have a great deal of flexibility with this
system. One of the main things we wanted to be able to do was to switch
back and forth between live TV and canned internal content using a
programmed schedule. This product was by far the least expensive
solution at the time of our selection (May 2007). If you'd like more
details, feel free to contact me off list.
Cheers,
Phil

RE: Digital Signage
We have just setup two screens this summer using a company called DT
Research http://dtresearch.com/.
http://signage.dtri.com/web/products/index.html
High level config here, but it is installed on a server that is in our
server room and then each screen is powered by DTResearch's SA3000
appliance. You can setup zones for each screen and display whatever
media you want in each zone. Attached is a picture of one of our
displays. Two of the zones are flash files, two are PowerPoint files
and streaming CNN.
