Group calendars for Outlook

Good morning,

We would like to set up a group calendar for our library staff to use in
Outlook. I know that we can share a calendar, but when I tried to
create a "law library calendar" and then shared it, it shared my
personal calendar. Is there a better way of doing this in Outlook or do
we need to purchase separate software?

Thanks for any help the list can provide!!!

Group calendars for Outlook

We simply created a calendar as a public folder; however, I have read
that MS is "de-emphasizing" the use of public folders. So who knows
when it will be dropped from Exchange Server, and I don't really like
any of their groupware solutions. We are starting to test the calendar
solution call Bedework, it's open source and cross-platform.

RE: Group calendars for Outlook

I have also heard they are not paying as much attention to Public Folders. So, if they axe them, then you go with Duc's other option, of creating an account for that "resource" and share it's calendar, you just have to have someone to "own" the account.

Also, You can share calendars other than your own personal calendar. It's a little tricky, but I just did it to test.

If you create a new calendar, whether a subfolder to your regular calendar, or on the same level, then go to the Calendar pane (Go, Calendar - If you are not already there), right-click the calendar you want to share, and choose "Share ", it will give you an email, that you send to those you want to share with, and it has the "link" to the calendar and it will add it to their Calendar pane.

RE: Group calendars for Outlook

Yes as per Duc if you are running an Exchange Environment then you can make
it a public folder or you can share your personal calendar you just have to
add the appropriate permissions to the calendar to allow others to view or
modify it. In outlook 2007 it has a few ways of doing it... see

hope this helps

Group calendars for Outlook

Two options: create an account for that calendar or create it in the public folders.
