Director of Law School Information Systems

Hofstra Law School seeks applications and nominations for the position of Director of Law School Information Systems. The Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining robust services for IS operations in the Law School, including hardware and software support, maintenance of department specific software applications, computerized exam applications, audio-visual support and media delivery systems.

The Director's primary responsibilities include supervising professional, support and student staff in meeting the technology needs of the law school community; ensuring that administrative computing programs and services are developed with an institutional perspective; developing cooperative relationships with other organizations to identify, test, and adopt innovative programs or technologies for the Law School; and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Law School Information Systems, participating in short- and long-range planning for the IS department.

The School enrolls approximately 1,100 students and supports over 100 faculty, staff, and administrators. The IS department provides support to all of these individuals and also seeks to meet the IS needs of student groups. The School is housed in three different buildings, has a wireless network, and maintains three computer labs.

Required: Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and technical skills, including extensive knowledge of hardware and software applications, including Microsoft Access and SQL. Experience in Web design. Bachelor's Degree required (degree in information technology related field preferred). Ability to analyze complex problems, identify solutions and alternatives, and organize existing resources to implement the most appropriate solution. Minimum of two years of IT/IS experience.

Preferred: Experience in administration in an academic environment and in supporting faculty, staff, student, and administrative users.
