ICE -- Integrated Content Environment

Don't recall seeing mention of ICE on this list but a friend is fairly
excited about it. .

Ice is roughly the equivalent of Sharepoint Server. However, it works
not only with MS Office but also with the OpenOffice.org family
including NeoOffice on the Mac. It was developed by the University of
Southern Queensland and is licensed under the GPL. So cross-platform
FOSS collaborationware from Down Under.

I haven't tried it so won't critique it here. But I thought others
might find it interesting enough to look at in a time of
belt-tightening.

Best regards,

I'm very interested in this. Elmer and I were talking just a couple
of weeks ago about the problem of getting word processor documents
into a web-based CMS. This looks like it might actually solve that
problem. It seems, from the description, to be a little rough around
the edges -- difficult to install, for one -- but has a lot of
potential. Thanks for posting!

ICE -- Integrated Content Environment

This does look pretty interesting. The URL is
http://ice.usq.edu.au/default.htm for those interested in trying it
yourselves. It certainly looks like something that would allow for
collaborative authoring of complex documents that are destined to used
on the web or in some other electronic format.

Thanks,
Elmer.
