Ideas for CALIcon vendors?
It's important to us to have a good group of vendors at the CALI
conference.
Sure, sponsors help us pay for the conference and, thus, keep attendees'
fees low, but sponsors also have a lot to offer the community in terms of
ideas, solutions, products, and services for our schools.
We are looking for new and interesting sponsors who a) have relevant stuff
to show our attendees, and b) might want to help sponsor the CALI
Conference.
We thought, who better to ask than our attendees for help?
Besides the institutions who usually exhibit at the conference, what
outside vendors do you work with that might be interested in sponsoring?
Shoot me an email if you have any ideas:

Thanks!

Ideas for CALIcon vendors?
Austin,
How's about a few seconds of brainstorming…?
We've had fun working with a manufacturer, Southern Vision Systems Inc who makes the voLANte digital signage/video distribution product. http://svsi-volante.com/ -- they are in distribution -- not sure who they are with but they (SVSI) are great to work with and could get you the rep info.
I assume you have talked with CDW-G and or Gov Connection. Dell, HP, Lenovo?
Gary Thompson from Thoughtimus/ScheduleWhiz?
Cables to Go has a hospitality division that markets an innovative AV product for the hotel industry but will work great in education -- they are still breaking into education on it. I have a couple of units and we love them.
A number of us are customers of the DSLG who sells the KIC scanning stations which are great. http://www.dlsg.net/
If there was ever a time for the large flat panel, it's now when Sharp 80" touch screens are under $10k per unit. The 70" touch is $5k. Non touch are even cheaper at $2300 for the 70" and $4800 for the 80". SharpUSA might just come.
Another outfit I'm looking at pretty hard for our operation here is http://www.xi3.com -- they make a great small form factor pc that is marketed to education. I met one of their VPs and he was all about getting into the law school market. He's a JD: Steven Tingey steven@xi3.com They're in Salt Lake City, UT.
May want to try some "local" manufacturers like Gefen - signal distribution/digital signage hardware (based in Chatsworth, CA) www.gefen.com
You also might try Forbes Industries (they make desks & case goods -- a number of us have their media lecterns) http://www.forbesindustries.com/. they're in Ontario, CA.
There's also DWI enterprises http://www.dwienterprises.com/. They're in Huntington Beach and they do a LOT of lecterns.
Don't forget Extron -- they're just up the road from San Diego in Anaheim. http://www.extron.com
I know people at all these places and can put you in touch with someone, maybe even the right person directly in many cases.
There are probably others that I'm not thinking of but these are the ones that popped up at first blush.
let me know if I can be of help.
Phil
