Computer Technical Support Consultant I (UCP IV)
School of Law Library

The University of Connecticut School of Law (Hartford) announces a full
time Computer Technical Support Consultant I position (UCP IV) in the Law
Library & Technology Department. Characteristic duties and
responsibilities include: providing computer & AV technical support;
troubleshooting and problem resolution; helpdesk coverage; supporting
classroom and events technology, including video-conferencing and audio
and video recording systems; card access system support; performing
hardware and software installation, upgrades, configuration and
maintenance. This position reports to Acting Director for Computing
Services and works cooperatively with other members of the Information
Systems team.

Minimum Qualifications: B.A./B.S. in information systems, computer
science or other related discipline (or equivalent combination of
education and training); one or more years employment experience providing
same or similar technical support services to end-users; excellent oral
and written communication skills, including ability to explain technical
information to non-technical end-users and to understand end-user problem
descriptions; demonstrated ability to work well with people having a wide
range of computer skills, to handle technical problems, to work well
under stress, and to follow complex plans and strategies; ability to work
a combination of daytime, evening and weekend hours to support the Law
School’s day and evening division programs & campus special events.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated working knowledge of technologies
used to support academic and administrative users at the School of Law,
including but not limited to commercially-available systems and software,
Lotus Notes/Domino, Track-IT, Pegasys Card Access, MS Office, Novell
Netware, Polycom PVX, Tandberg/Codian video conferencing systems, Barix
audio instreamers, and Linux; one or more years working in academic
setting, serving faculty, staff and professional students.

The work week varies to meet the needs of the department but will
typically be Mondays – Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Fridays, 9:00
a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The campus operates 7 days per week, including evening
hours. Position is defined as essential during critical periods in the
academic calendar, on dates when special events are scheduled, during
defined periods of reduced staffing, and during planned and emergency
Information Systems projects.

This is an end-date position with a target salary of $40,000.
