Pay for Print for students

Dear fellow Teknoids,
Hello from Portland OR. We're considering pay-for-print for the student
body. Have any of you implemented this at your school? If so, what have
you used, e.g., GoPrint? Thanks!
Bruce

RE: Pay for Print for students

At Iowa we replaced Equitrax Print Account Server with PaperCut and we love it. Not only is it used across campus for printing but my Law School uses it for managing our copiers as well.

It's a great product and don't let their location in New Zealand scare you. They have great customer support, detailed documentation and are always responsive to email.

Feel free to email if you have any other questions on our implementation.

Pay for Print for students

Hey, Bruce. This is probably the single most talked about topic EVER
on teknoids. I would recommend you start with the archives at
http://u.cali.org/2fyq for about a dozen years worth of discussion on
the topic of student printing. Most recent thread is probably
http://u.cali.org/pda3 .

Pay for Print for students

Elmer and Paul,
Thanks so much for the information! This is exactly what I need. (U of
Richmond is right down the street from my alma mater, VCU. . . )
Best,
Bruce

Pay for Print for students

At the SJ Quinney (University of Utah) we use Papercut. We replaced an old installation of Pcounter with this product and fel it is a fantastic system.

Dear Mark,
Thanks so much for your email. (If you're interested), Elmer, one of the
main teknoids dudes, pointed me to the following URL, which shows what a
whole boat load of law schools are doing regarding student pay-for-print.
Best,
Bruce

Pay for Print for students

Mark, thanks for the response. If you're Ok with sharing the
information, how do you charge students? Do they pay after reaching a
quota? How much? Thanks!
Bruce
