Environment
Located in a state-of-the-art building in the heart of downtown Chicago,
the IIT Downtown Campus Library primarily serves the Chicago-Kent
College of Law and other IIT graduate programs taught at the IIT
Downtown Campus. The library's primary clientele are the faculty of
both the law school and other IIT graduate programs and approximately
2,000 students. The library has an outstanding collection of materials
relating to law, business, international relations, and the social

Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Associate Director, the Digital
Resources Librarian will manage the library's electronic resources,
including e-journals, e-resource package plans, and other electronic
content; create bibliographic records; maintain e-journal coverage
information in the ILS and ERM; and resolve authorization and
authentication issues for e-resources. This position is also responsible
for evaluating technologies related to digital content and managing the
library's digital projects. The successful candidate will manage the
creation and maintenance of an institutional repository, including the
development of workflow procedures and metadata creation. The Digital
Resources Librarian supervises one library specialist.
Requirements
This position requires a M.L.S. from an A.L.A.- accredited graduate
program. Knowledge of MARC formats, OCLC, Anglo-American Cataloging
rules, and Library of Congress subject headings and classification
schedules is essential. Other requirements include: familiarity with
MS Access and ability to use it to generate reports; knowledge of
metadata standards such as EAD, Dublin Core, and XML; and demonstrated
knowledge of best practices for managing e-resources. Other helpful
knowledge includes: basic familiarity with web development (HTML, CSS,
PHP preferred) and mobile web design. Must have some knowledge of
institutional repository management, including intellectual property
issues and content security issues. Familiarity with digital collection
platforms and architecture such as Digital Commons, DSpace and
ContentDM. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication
skills are essential; must be very service-oriented.
Preferred
Familiarity with SFX, Serials Solutions, Voyager, EZProxy; some
experience with project management and supervising others would be
helpful.
Salary
Salary is negotiable and competitive, commensurate with experience.
