Position Title: Electronic Services Librarian
Position Summary:
The Washington and Lee University School of Law Library seeks applications to fill the position of Electronic Services Librarian. This position is responsible for database management, the general web presence of the law library, and reference service. The Electronic Services Librarian is a key resource for collection development, reference, the digital repository and current awareness initiatives and, generally, providing access to intellectual content that supports the law school’s teaching, learning and scholarship goals.
Under the direction of the Director, Associate Director, and Head of Information Services, this position is responsible for the overall management of the law library’s electronic resources. The position is responsible for associated innovative technologies, database management, development of policies related to electronic resources and online information, maintenance of the new titles alert system, law journal rankings project, library research page, and general library web presence.
The Electronic Services Librarian assists the Head of Special Collections in the identification and negotiation of options for preservation/archiving of purchased electronic products, clocks, portico and local servers. He or she will be responsible for licensing and providing access to online library database subscriptions.
Education Requirements:
A master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school and Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school are required.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate has a minimum of three to five years experience with library and computer systems, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a working knowledge of HTML and ASPX.
