Storage solutions?

If anyone is willing to share, I'm curious as to what other schools are
using for server storage, particularly in Vmware environments. We currently
have an EMC Clariion CX300 that is a few years old. 2Gbit FC connections
with a mix of FC and SATA drives. I really like its manageability.

We need more storage but expanding the CX300 is really expensive and I'm not
sure I want to invest more in that aging system. So I'm looking for less
expensive options with a longer shelf life.

I've heard some good things about the Promise E-Class SAS arrays that Apple
sells. They seem reasonably priced for SAN storage.
