Student Printing.. Not the same old question

I know everyone misses the threads on student printing, so I figured I would
get one going...

Anyone know of or using a pay for printing app for Linux?

Thanks

Student Printing.. Not the same old question

Harold,

I haven't used it, but Papercut NG claims to support Linux as a server platform. They have a 40 day free trial. The nursing school is very happy with the windows version. It's at papercut.com.

Student Printing.. Not the same old question

We are just beginning to test Papercut NG for implementation during the
summer. They do indeed support the Linux platform and is looking to be a
great improvement over our current Pay-for-print system (Pcounter).

ASP.net and authenticating against MS Active Directory

All (Sent on behalf of my developer Lisa Kassay) -

Using ASP.Net 2.0 or 3.5, we want to create a login page that will
authenticate against AD either using LDAP callouts or through the MS
ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider. We also want to read the existing groups
from AD to provide the roles for authenticated users instead of keeping the
roles in a separate SQL Database.

Some mention of ADAM (Active Directory Application Mode) in various blog
posts seem to satisfy this need although I have seen some people complain
that there is not a lot of documentation on the setup of this. I found this
information http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998331.aspx from MS.
ADAM seems to be the middleman for ASP.Net to know how to read the group
setup in AD.

I was unsuccessful in finding a control or third-party "out-of-the-box"
solution.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Student Printing.. Not the same old question

Even though we are on a mixed system of Windows and Linux, I would have to say Equitrac has a good system. Their support is a little lack luster, but it really works well.
