Job Title: Information Technology Director The Information Technology Director will be in charge of planning, developing and submitting for approval, directing the implementation of, and managing the operation of automated systems in the College, including all "core" desktop applications, communications applications (both internal and external, including e-mail and the Web), department specific software applications, computerized exam administration applications, and media delivery systems. Essential Functions: 1. Ensure that administrative computing programs and services are developed with an institutional perspective and with coordination of the activities and planning of various units within the College; Ability to autonomously analyze complex problems; identify critical elements and alternatives, organize existing resources and new information to implement most appropriate solution. 2. Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Administration and in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Library and Technology, prepare the annual budget for law school technology, including computers, network hardware and infrastructure, software, audio-visual technologies, and other media. Develop and maintain long-term and short-range plans for computing and network development. Allocate new PC purchases and rotating older computers systems. Evaluate and recommend technology acquisitions and the enhancement or replacement of existing systems. Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Administration, make all technology-related purchases. 3. With the approval of the Dean (or his or her designee), hire the most qualified computing services staff, and make recommendations regarding staff size and deployment. Manage, direct and develop the appropriate professional staff needed to maintain the technology environment and support technology users (including faculty, staff, and students). Administer annual performance reviews for Technology Services staff. 4. Provide adequate training and user support to administrative staff members and to maintain administrative computing; maintaining current knowledge of general trends affecting law school technology. Develop standardized documentation for all major technology systems. Prepare and distribute information reports. Maintain a comprehensive technology inventory database of all College-owned equipment. Ensure that all equipment is accounted for in the inventory database and that software is properly licensed. Manage network user accounts. Manage network security. Liaison with UF Computing and Networking Services for technology matters, including security; serving on university-wide advisory committees, specialized committees, and other groups. Ensure that College systems are developed in coordination with university systems. Develop liaisons with vendors and others developing innovative programs for uses of technology in law schools. Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and five years of any combination of relevant experience, education and/or certification. The level of expertise and skill required to qualify for a position in this classification is generally attained through combinations of education and experience in the field. While such employees commonly have a bachelor's or higher degree, no particular academic degree is required. A criminal background check will be conducted. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters Degree in related area with at least five years in the IT field and J.D. preferred. At least three years of IT management experience required. Collaborative interpersonal skills for working with faculty, administrators, support staff, students, main campus IT, and technology vendors preferred. Experience working in academic environment preferred. Experience working in academic program with laptop requirement preferred.
