This External position is for UCD/UCDHS employees and the general

The School of Law offers a
three-year curriculum in the study of law, and has a student body of
approximately 590 degree-seeking candidates, 50+ faculty and lecturers, and 70+
staff members. The School of Law IT Department is a dynamic workplace, dedicated

Responsibilities: Under general direction of the
Director of Information Technology, this position provides web development,
maintenance, and support for the Law School, helping to maintain standards of excellence
in the areas of teaching, research, public service, student services, and
administration. This position is critical to supporting the school’s
mission of creating and maintaining a robust user-centric web presence.
Responsible for website application development, coding and maintenance;
specifically designing, documenting, implementing and maintaining web-based
departmental applications. Participate in formalizing design specifications for
complex software systems through the application design phase, including
developing complete and accurate system designs that meet the business
requirements, major business functions, as well as expected hardware and
software performance requirements. Work closely with Marketing Department to
create new web pages and maintain a consistent look and feel across all sites.
Assist users as needed with web application issues.

Requirements: Experience with web site design and
technologies including knowledge of HTML, XML, JavaScript, and Cascading
Stylesheets. Skill in developing and maintaining multiple, complex web sites
and web applications. Experience with secure programming in object oriented
languages such as C++, JAVA, C#, or Visual Basic.NET. Experience with
relational databases, Structured Query Language (SQL), and concepts of
efficient database design. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written
communication skills to clearly communicate technical issues and provide
thorough project documentation. Interpersonal skills to work effectively within
a diverse community; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good
working relationships with staff, students, faculty, and administrators.
Analytical skills to understand complex business problems and develop Web-based
solutions. Ability to analyze and problem solve current and future needs in the
department. Ability to deal/work with confidential and sensitive personnel,
academic, financial, and student data and to take the appropriate measure to
protect that information in accordance with the UC Policy as well as Federal
and State laws. Ability to work independently and productively with little or
no supervision, yet work effectively as part of the team. Supplemental

Conditions of Employment: This position is a critical position and subject
